Would You Like Fries With That ?

While all the latest rage in soft palstics these days revolves around the senko and rightly so as it is a fantastic bait and continues to dominate the soft plastic scene but , for this technique I like to pull out the way back machine and use an old carolina rig bait ... the classic 4 or 5 inch plastic french fry in green pumpkin color texas rigged on an offset worm hook.

My gear is a 7 foot medium heavy spinning rod with a large spool spinning reel with 20 lb braid. I have tried lots of differant combos for this but I found this set up to be the best for skipping these baits.

I always attack my docks no matter how long they are from the very front lake edge of the dock. I know there are lots of guys that will tell you to pick a dock a part working from the shore back or each section of it one at a time . But in my technique you will be skipping your baits from the very front of the dock all the way to the back and bring the bait out from there.

Depending on wind direction I will point my boat directly at the dock but off set to the left of the dock as I cast from right hand side arm and this will allow me a direct shot at the whole lenght of the dock. I will also stay off about 5 to 10 feet from the front and with a side arm motion skip my bait back as far as possible and allow the french fry to skip and find its way all the wayo to end of the dock and let it sit for sevearla seconds and thhen work it slowly back the lenght of the dock on the bottom.

Make sure you give this a try the next time you are on a lake with docks and remember there are always fish on docks even when you have catch one... with in a short period of time another fish will move in and take up residensce in that spot.
