I like to use my Spinner Bait Flipping Technique in up close heavy cover situations where most people throw big jigs. This is a great way to present a different looking bait that these resident bass do not often see.
I will attack lay downs and other cover much the same way I would use a jig and pig .. flipping the spinner bait into the cover allowing it to flutter down then reel it back to the boat.
The inherent weedless profile of spinner baits will allow you to roll it over logs stumps rocks and other such cover at let it fall down the other side of the cover.
Use this technique when needed for Some Flash for extra attraction
The flash from the blades will provide some extra attraction and prove an asset in off color water.
There are also certain makes of Spinner Baits that will fall in a circular motion known as " helicoptering" and looks much like dying bait fluttering to the bottom.
Another big asset for this is that I can use the same Equipment that I use in open water Spinner Bait Fishing
I will use a 3/4 oz spinner bait with a larger profile head with dual willow leaf blades fished on a 7 foot medium heavy rod with a high speed 6.1 reel and 17 lb mono for this application.
This is the same set up I would use to fish Spinner Baits in open water or docks. Thus saving room on the boat and added cost to your tackle spending
